Hot Off The Press in Cornwall
Great photography with models doesn’t have to be expensive. That’s something I’ve proved time and again. I often ask people I know to help out on shoots, and they are always looked after well and paid fairly. They are not charging Model Agency rates, but they still deliver fantastic work because they’re enthusiastic and we work together as a team.
I’ve built up quite a collection over the years - my garage is full of props. Some of them sit untouched for years, gathering dust, until the right idea comes along. Then out they come, cleaned down and put to work to create a strong, memorable image. It’s amazing what you can achieve with a bit of imagination and items you already have.
Right now the seas around the Cornwall coast are dead calm and the weather is gloriously hot. Perfect conditions for something special. I took the Mavic Pro drone up and captured a unique perspective of Emma. The shapes, symmetry and bold use of primary colours make it the kind of shot that would stand out instantly on any holiday company’s website homepage.
Although this particular image was created here in Cornwall, it could easily have been taken anywhere in the world. It has universal appeal.
Before Emma headed out I briefed her on what I wanted: to create a dynamic shape using the sunshade and her arms. She delivered it brilliantly.
